Independent navigation, in your hands.

Synoma is a navigation app built for blind and low-vision people that uses audio guidance from GPS, sensors, and your phone's camera. Made together with the community it serves.

What Synoma does

Synoma is an ambitious all-in-one solution for all your outdoor navigation needs.

  • Black-and-white photo: a man seen in profile, smiling, wearing a wireless earbud.

    Hear your way

Directional sound guides you: spoken directions and audio cues that come from the direction you’re heading.

  • Routes that make sense

Mapping algorithms built specifically for blind and low-vision pedestrians ensure safer paths — not just the shortest line.

  • Easy public transport

Public transport, integrated right into the app. Which bus or train to take, where it stops, and exactly when to get off.

  • Accessible design

Synoma can be controlled by voice and works with screen readers, because the app was designed to be accessible from the start.

  • Tailor it, down to the detail

Thorough preference settings, such as the roads you prefer or avoid, the voice you hear, and the sounds the app uses.

  • Photo: four friends standing in a circle, seen from below against a blue sky, laughing and making peace signs at the camera.

    Built with the community

Made together with blind and low-vision people at every step. Testing, workshops, and honest feedback shape every feature.

Built together

Synoma is a six-person team — one of us from the blind and low-vision community — working side by side with a large group of users. We test, run workshops, discuss details, and shape every feature together with both end users and specialists from the vision field.

We're geeks who love technology and people. At Synoma, we work with both.

Our controlled beta testing

We're actively testing Synoma in Copenhagen, and we'll keep at it for the foreseeable future. We do it together with everyone who wants to help us fine-tune the app and build the last missing pieces.

Everyone is welcome, and no testing experience is needed. Just the wish to take part. Stay tuned in our Facebook group and on the waitlist. That's where you'll hear first about new test rounds, events, and everything else that happens along the way.
